laser hair removal at bluebird
Laser hair removal works. There is a forty year proven history of its safety and effectiveness, and the results are dramatic.
But when we hear from people who have had laser hair removal with disappointing results, we are not surprised. Unfortunately, this is a common experience. The effectiveness of laser hair removal depends largely on the skill and care of the technician performing the work.
For a laser session to be effective, the technician needs to be able to apply the maximum amount of energy to the client’s skin while not over—or under-treating. It is a fine balance honed by experience. At Bluebird this is all we do, and we do it very well.
Whether you’re just starting out or seeking a more professional and welcoming practitioner, Bluebird Laser Hair Removal in Toronto is the place to be. We take more time with our clients and do better, more thorough, work. So quit it with the ‘beauty bars’ and ‘spas’ and come be yourself with folks who know you and your body hair. We will take care of you.
the Bluebird ethos
At Bluebird we welcome folks of all genders, orientations, presentations, modifications, body shapes and sizes, skin tones, and abilities. In short: you!
Bluebird is a small team of four technicians. For all of us, hair removal has changed our lives. We understand how important it is to our clients because we know how important it was to us. If you want hair off your body there will be no need to explain why. We know why. Because we’ve been there.
We only do laser hair removal, and we do it very well. We are not going to upsell you, downplay you, or talk around you. (We don’t even believe all people should be hairless!) But if hair removal is part of your recipe for who you are, we are here for you.
Laser hair removal is science, not magic. At our Kensington clinic we have the newest alexandrite, diode, and Nd:Yag lasers. We rigorously train our staff to use this technology to maximum effect on our client’s skin, and we stand behind our work everyday.
If this sounds like your speed, we look forward to seeing you.

Who’s it right for?
Laser hair removal is for everyone: Women and men; cis, trans, and non-binary folks; and people of all body shapes, sizes, skin tones and abilities.
There are so many good reasons to begin: If you just don’t want to shave any more or would like to shave less, if you suffer from ingrown hairs, if you have overactive hair follicles or higher than typical androgen levels, if you need to align your hair growth patterns with your gender identity, or if you have a disability and cannot shave yourself. These are all fantastic reasons to have laser hair removal.
The long-term results of laser hair removal and how it functions in our lives will be different for each of us. Hormone levels, skin tone and hair colour all play a part in determining how many sessions a client will need and the level of permanent hair removal attainable. At Bluebird we work carefully with all these factors to make sure we can safely and effectively meet our client’s goals.
hair removal for Transfolks
At Bluebird we welcome everyone, but our trans and non-binary clients are at the heart of what we do. We take this work very seriously because, for us, hair removal is often not optional; it is about being seen for who we are.
For our transgender clients removing facial hair, please come to your consultation with a little bit of hair growth. This will allow us to make a good assessment of the work to be done. If you are preparing for surgery, please bring to the consultation as much information as you can about the areas to be cleared.
For our clients removing facial hair, or for clients who need complete removal prior to surgery, we begin with laser, and then switch these clients to electrolysis to remove the last remaining bit. The combination of laser hair removal and electrolysis will remove 100% of the hair from an area permanently.
While Bluebird does not offer electrolysis services we have a handful of trusted providers here in Toronto, including Azka Ali and Nat Vincent, who are doing great work for trans folks. We will pass you along as soon as you are ready!
Funding for trans related facial hair removal and surgery prep: If you are a trans person and are unable to pay for these services, there will shortly be a funding option available. Find out more about the Connect Fund here. If you get coverage for hair removal through a work or school based benefits plan, or if you are able to pay, please leave these funds for those who don’t, and can’t.

Our services
Our per-session price list below covers common body areas for laser hair removal, allowing you to mix and match in any combination.
Clients typically require 6-8 sessions over the course of eight months to a year. Eight to ten sessions for our trans clients removing facial hair.
We don’t sell pre-paid packages. Our clients pay for each session as it is attended. This allows you to spread the cost of your laser out over the time you are doing it. And it assures you that you won’t be paying for sessions that you don’t need.
Thank you, but we are a no-tipping business! At Bluebird we happily do not accept tips. We have created pricing that allows us to pay our staff a living wage. We feel strongly that this is both better for our staff and better for our clients! If you would like to express your joy, a google review would be immensely valuable.
Who we are
Djuna Day
Bluebird was begun in 2019 by Djuna Day out of a deep frustration with the gender-normative body care and aesthetics industry in Toronto. After many disappointing experiences and after a comprehensive search for a body care clinic with an inclusive sensibility, she came to understand that if she wanted one, she was just going to have to make one. So she did, and Bluebird was born.
Djuna is a Medical Esthetician and Laser Technician. She holds a diploma with honours from the International Beauty Institute in Mississauga.
Sai Meloche
Sai has lived in Toronto for most of her adult life. She loves to skateboard, read, and play Dark Souls with her cat, Paris.
Sai became an aesthetician as a way of working within and contributing to her community of dolls. She loves being able to help others feel confident and their most slay, inside and out. Sai is always looking forward to meeting new people, filming new skate tricks, and spreading trans love and joy.
Lily Lacombe
Originally a client, Lily was inspired by the work we do at Bluebird and was eager to get involved helping others through their own hair removal journey.
She has become an integral part of the team and is a warm and welcoming addition to what we do here. She values making each client feel comfortable and building one-on-one connections during sessions, as well as providing exceptional care with the treatment itself. Outside of the clinic, she is a "huge dork" and loves getting involved in lgbtq+ events.
Jayne Sweet
Jayne comes to Bluebird knowing just how powerful it is to be free from unwanted hair, and wanting to share the love.
With an eye for detail and a mind for new experiences, she approaches each session with calming energy and an easy going attitude. Inquisitive at heart, she loves hearing new things and unexpected perspectives from her clients while sharing her own interests in art, music, gaming, and life. She extends this mindset into spreading empathy, opportunity, and justice for her queer and trans Community.
